It is no wonder that important figures such as kings and emperors, but also nobles, female warriors, and great heroes, were depicted in gold.

The Volano B114 is embellished with gold leaf that covers it entirely, loudly elevating the concept of passion for a design that is unique in the world.
A passion passed down by the inventor Wilhelmus Adrianus Van Berkel, who, out of love for mechanics and his work, created the iconic Volano in 1898.

The Italian identity of the Volano Passion is conveyed through the artist's inspiration from the architecture of the city of Milan.
Fifteenth-century damasks and end-of-the-nineteenth-century inspired scrolls blend into the design, creating an evocative reinterpretation with a Neo-Liberty flavor.
In contrast to the graceful and soft shapes of the Gothic-Neo-Baroque elements, geometric lines act as an antithesis, recalling the lead caming of the stained-glass windows and rose windows that illuminate Renaissance-style buildings.

The technique was executed on gold leaf, the same technique as oil gilding, with which the famous Madonnina of the Duomo is covered in gold leaf.
The brilliance of gold blends not only with mother-of-pearl, but also with antique and "lived-in" bronzes found in the metaphysical backgrounds of Crivelli's altarpieces, which can be admired at the Pinacoteca di Brera.

At the base of the column, the Visconteo sun, whose rays inspired the famous "biscione" (serpent) of Milan's coat of arms, marks the circular rhythm from which various decorative elements radiate, such as Gothic "inflorescences", lilies, and lacework in which the cathedral is rich.
